People head towards Beijing West Railway Station yesterday as China's railways prepare for the world's biggest annual migration when millions of migrant laborers leave the cities for their home villages to celebrate the Chinese New Year, which falls on January 23 this year. About 2.85 billion passenger journeys are expected during the travel peak which starts on Sunday and will last 40 days. Shanghai's three railway stations are expected to handle more than 7 million passengers, a 6 percent increase over last year.
