　　Alex（Amanda Peet，《2012》）和Pete（David Walton，《完美爱人》）是两类完全不同的人。刚刚离婚的Alex是一个很能适应环境的律师，在法庭上依然保持着咄咄逼人的态势。尽管她现在只能独自抚养八岁的女儿Charlie（Joey King扮演），但是她从未对任何人诉苦。为了节约开支，她卖掉了以前的大房子，搬进了一间相对较小的房子，并聘请Pete来为她装修厨房。

　　Pete曾经是个赌徒兼花花公子，人生中满是污点。如今尽管改邪归正，但没有人相信他真的能摆脱过去。替Alex装修厨房可能是他用来证明自己的最后希望了，所以他非常珍惜这个机会。

　　Pete第一眼见到Alex就被她深深吸引。他也说不出究竟喜欢她哪一点－－或许是她的自信，还有她那种与生俱来的气质。而Alex也意识到自己遇到了「对手」－－Pete是她生命中第一个敢于当面指出她缺点的男人。

　　Jeffrey Tambor在剧中扮演Pete的父亲Walt，一名过气的演员；Margo Harshman扮演Alex的妹妹Screwsie。

　　剧名《Bent》直译过来就是：每个人的情感都是有「弹性」的，可以「弯曲」，但是不会「折断」。
