　　本片讲述的是很久很久以前，也就是在欧洲人来到澳大利亚之前，在澳大利亚北部的阿纳姆沼泽地，土著人过着无忧无虑的生活。年轻的达印迪觊觎他的长兄的三个妻子之一丽吉玛丽尔，这样威胁部落的秩序。为了让年轻人走上正道，部落的长老米尼顾鲁鲁于是向这个年轻人叙述有关禁忌的爱情、武士、绑架、巫术以及复仇的古老的传说。
