　　日本京都附近，日本最大的湖泊—琵琶湖的上游，一条溪流被导引进入村庄屋(KABATAsystem)，家家户户挖掘一个大水窖，让水流潺潺流经，水窖里养些鲤鱼，餐后碗盘器具丢入水窖，米粒成为鲤鱼的食物，「鲤鱼牌洗碗机」自动洗涤，燠夏则将蔬果丢进水窖清凉，而且，这套古老河川维生生态系的利用，是全面性的生活型（Life form），也是以大自然周期性的水循环，经营水田及湿地芦苇的利用，而老汉在捕鱼后，不忘留下一些，给高飞觅食的禽鸟。人、土地、水、生物，各自诚恳伴演生态系内互相尊重的角色。千余年来，该地水文文化暨知足惜福、万物一家的价值观。
