　　单身母亲，黑人女孩Poppy Shakespeare的到来，打乱了N的计划，Poppy 从进到医院的那天开始就只有一个念头，找到自己是正常人的证据，出院和女儿团聚。她请求N的帮助，N则劝慰Poppy随遇而安，适应这里的生活，那怕只是装个样子。两个年轻女孩的生活轨迹慢慢有了交集，N的生活有了色彩与快乐，她甚至开始化妆、穿短裙，Poppy也渐发现精神病人们莫测的心里同样藏有温情，疯狂的思想中同样怀有希望。
