　　曾经发生过灭门惨案的凶宅，而今又迎来了新的主人。单亲妈妈考特尼（莎妮·索萨蒙 Shannyn Sossamon 饰）在摆脱了失败的婚姻后，带着双胞胎儿子迪伦（罗伯特·丹尼尔·斯隆 Robert Daniel Sloan 饰）和扎克（达塔尼安·斯隆 Dartanian Sloan 饰）搬进了这里。考特尼为了生计疲于奔波，而迪安似乎又收到某种神秘的力量所影响。他能看见穿戴整洁却一脸阴气的朋友米洛，更在对方的指引下看了那卷凶残可怖的录像带。在此期间，一名前警官以私人侦探（詹姆斯· 兰索恩 James Ransone 饰）的身份入住母子的家中，他曾持续追查这栋凶宅幕后的真相。
