　　故事发生在纽约市中心的51号桑树街。某天，地铁上，一名乘客莫名其妙的被一只狂躁的老鼠咬伤了，而在城市的另外一个角落有人也遭到了同样的遭遇。这些被咬的人身体发生了怪异的变化，慢慢的变成了一种新的邪恶的物种。这种物种充满邪恶与力量，具有毁灭一切的欲望，很快病毒就随着老鼠和这种邪恶的怪物蔓延到城市的每个角落。很快，街道上便挤满了这些新生的怪物。

　　幸存者中退休的拳击手克拉奇（拉里•法森顿 Larry Fessenden 饰）此时与其他六个被从51桑树街驱赶出来的房客正在一所房间中紧张的封门、堵窗，以阻止外面蜂拥而来的异类。究竟他们的挣扎能否拯救这个世界？
