电视动画《机动战士钢弹00》於2007年至2009年间分为第一、二季放送，是首次以现实的西曆年为时代设定的钢弹作品，以钢弹系列特有的机体魅力，绵密张力的剧情设定，吸引年轻世代的注意与喜爱。

《机动战士钢弹00剧场版-A wakening of the Trailblazer-》是机动战士钢弹系列继1991年的《机动战士钢弹F91》以来，除去总集篇及重制等，睽违了19年的完全新作剧场版。以电视系列第二季故事结束2年后的世界为舞台，描写天上人最终决战的真正完结篇；将展开从未见过的影像和故事，因而受到许多动画迷的高度期待。

剧场版延续电视系列由水岛精二监督执导，黑田洋介负责脚本，集结了电视系列的坚强制作阵容，倾力打造钢弹系列史上最壮大的视觉震撼。除了新的MS充满魄力的战斗场景外，并有日本知名声优宫野真守、三木真一郎、吉野裕行、神谷浩史…等人为主要角色献声，还有将在剧场版登场的新角色「迪卡儿・夏曼」，特别找来日本新生代实力派演员胜地凉配音演出。
